Call for 2026 projects
Do you have an experimental music project looking for a stage?
For the first time in Klang’s history, we are opening up our programme. As part of our 2026 season, we’re reserving space for 3–5 projects to be selected via open call.
To help us with the selection process, we have engaged the group Chamber Collective. The group have a young profile with a focus on both artistic edge and sustainability, which makes them the ideal choice to administer this open call.
We’re looking for adventurous and engaging projects across experimental music, sound, and performance. Whether you’re an ensemble, soloist, composer, sound artist, electronic musician, or performance artist — if you have a project ready to go and in need of a platform, we want to hear from you.
What we’re looking for:
- 3–5 projects to be presented during Klang Festival 2026.
- Projects that are production-ready (not in development).
- Projects that are flexible and adaptable to different venues.
- Smaller-scale productions that can be set up and performed on the same day.
Who should apply?
Anyone working within experimental music or related fields. We welcome a wide range of formats and styles, as long as it is experimental or boundary-breaking in character.
Submission Process
1 June – 1 September 2025
The open call is live. All submissions will be reviewed by the Klang team for feasibility (no artistic evaluation at this stage).
October 2025
Chamber Collective and Klang Festival will review the feasible submissions and select a shortlist of 10–20 projects. Projects will be assessed on both their artistic content, the needs of the production, and their fit with the rest of the 2026 Klang programme.
October–November 2025
Klang festival will contact shortlisted requirements to align finances, production needs, venue requirements, travel costs, etc.
December 2025
The jury will select 3–5 final projects based on both artistic qualities and practical feasibility.
How to Apply
Please send a project proposal via email to opencall@klang.dk. Please include ”Open Call” in the subject line of the mail.
We prefer proposals to be no more than one A4 page, and to include links to relevant media. However, we’re open to different formats — for example, a video or audio recording of you talking through your idea
Your proposal should focus on the artistic content, but it’s also helpful to include:
- A rough budget/financial overview
- Duration of the project
- Intended audience
- Biographies of artists involved
- Documentation (recordings, video, etc). Please include all media as links, not as attached files
But please do not worry about including all this information – if we have questions then we will contact you. The most important information is the artistic content.
Important Notes
- We’re looking for ready-to-go projects — not commissions or works-in-progress. It will not be possible for Klang to contribute to any commission fees for the open call projects.
- We are looking for time-limited, performance-based works – installations and exhibitions are not suitable.
- Klang aims to cover production costs and performer fees.
- Travel and accommodation costs will be discussed with the artists on a case-by-case basis.
- If your project has partial funding (e.g. commission fees, travel grants), please mention this in your application.
- For concert-based projects with multiple pieces, we may suggest adjustments to the programme during the preliminary meetings.
- Klang reserves the right to postpone or cancel projects, according to the capabilities of our final festival budget.
