Vinyl-terror & -horror: [sweeping instrumental music playing on TV]

[sweeping Instrumental Music Playing on TV] is a new work by artist and turntablist duo Vinyl-terror & -horror for Esbjerg Ensemble made from found footage stripped of its original context and reedited into a new, open narrative. The subtitles of the original footage, describing moods and actions, become the score. Vinyl-terror & -horror then compose with these descriptions: sometimes taking them at face value, sometimes ignoring or ridiculing them, in equal measure. The score originates as a physical artwork, a cut-up LP, which violinist, composer, and long-time collaborator of the duo George Kentros has transcribed for the Esbjerg Ensemble. Alongside them, mechanical sculptures execute precise physical actions in sync with the same score in a humorous homage to Foley art. Expect a genre-defying, mind-bending blend of music, sculpture and video, as they create a whole new world of sound and expression.
